Care
A kokedama needs little attention, but it has its own rules. Here is everything you need to keep it thriving.
1. Watering by bath
Instead of pouring water, dip the ball in a bowl of room-temperature water for 3 to 5 minutes, until no more bubbles rise. Then let it drain for a few minutes before placing it back on its dish.
2. When to water?
Weigh the ball in your hand: when it feels noticeably lighter, it's time. Depending on the plant and the season, this can be anywhere from once a week to once every two or three weeks. Each product page tells you what your plant needs.
3. Light
Most of our kokedamas love bright but indirect light. Avoid harsh midday sun, which dries the ball out too quickly.
4. Humidity
Mist the leaves from time to time, especially in winter when heating dries the air.
5. Through the seasons
In winter the plant grows less, so space out the baths. In spring and summer you can add a little very diluted houseplant fertiliser to the bath water once a month.
