Watering by immersion

A kokedama is watered by immersion, a simple technique that hydrates the whole ball evenly.

Step by step

  1. Fill a bowl with room-temperature water.
  2. Fully submerge the ball for 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Wait until air bubbles stop rising.
  4. Lift the kokedama out and let the excess water drain before placing it back on its dish.

How often?

It depends on the plant, the temperature and the humidity of the room. As a rule of thumb, water when the ball feels light when you lift it, or dry to the touch.

The Nebari tip: observe your kokedama regularly. Nature always tells us when it needs attention.
